Healthy Youth Relationships
Healthy Youth Relationships is a Red Cross: RespectED program delivered by Wellspring Family Resource & Crisis Centre.
It examines healthy and unhealthy peer romantic relationships, focusing on dispelling stereotypes and building both communication and prevention skills.
It is intended for youth ages twelve to eighteen.
Healthy Youth Relationships looks at healthy and unhealthy peer romantic relationships.
This program helps young people identify:
- what makes a dating relationship abusive
- consent, protection and reporting procedures
- where to find support and community resources
- healthy dating relationships and supporting behaviours
The workshop reviews the legal definitions and ramifications of physical and sexual assaults. Written scenarios, group work and videos support this information and identify warning signs such as emotional mistreatment.
Hands are Not for Hitting
Hands are Not for Hitting is an interactive presentation tailored for children in Grade Two. The presentation includes an age-appropriate interactive power point, in which the students learn ways to handle anger without violence. Each student is also encouraged to participate in a “These Hands Don’t Hurt” pledge. We provide sheets on which students put their painted hand prints and signature to be displayed at the school.
