Public Education
Our Public Education Program provides education, information and awareness to organizations, schools, agencies and businesses in Whitecourt and the surrounding communities. Presentations include information on a variety of relationship and Family Violence Prevention topics and can be tailored to meet the needs of the audience.
Healthy Relationships
Our program, Healthy Relationships, is designed for youth ages 12-18, with a primary focus on 8th grade. We address the importance of recognizing healthy and unhealthy peer romantic relationships, as statics show that 1 in 3 youth will experience some sort of dating abuse. Through open discussions and tailored material, we provide a safe platform for young individuals to learn about and cultivate positive and respectful relationships.
This program helps young people identify:
- what makes a dating relationship abusive
- consent, protection and reporting procedures
- where to find support and community resources
- healthy dating relationships and supporting behaviours
The workshop reviews the legal definitions and ramifications of physical and sexual assaults. Written scenarios, group work and videos support this information and identify warning signs such as emotional mistreatment.
